Fawlty Towers

Stayed at a real-life Fawlty towers last weekend in Blackpool - the 'hotel' was 2 buildings joined together, and we had a room on the 3rd floor of building '2'.

Tried to get a shower before going out for the evening, and found we had no hot water - went to see the owner, she said "oh that side of the hotel only has a boiler big enough to heat water for 3 rooms before it cuts out and has to be reset" - so a cold wash and out for a few beers then.

Next morning, same thing - had to use friends room next to ours (why did this room have hot water and we didnt?). Complained again - she said "we're not plumbers how is it our fault?" :-)

Breakfast was in the most crowded room I've ever seen - literally back-to-back with the tables next to us. Definite fire hazard!

Bit of an argument ensued over the water, and then we left to go out for the day. When we returned in the afternoon to pick up our luggage, the police were waiting for me! But after I told them how these people were running their hotel, he gave up any attempt at trying to tell me off.
